July 1, 2022

In the beautiful neighborhood of Koreatown in Los Angeles, Villa Veneto is a friendly place to come home to. Double doors open to the grand foyer where sunlight spills into the building and down the hallway creating a warm and welcoming effect. There is a shared backyard space where you can kick back and relax and get to know your neighbors.

Multiple monthly parking garages can be found in the area, so it’s easy to park your car. But no worries if you don’t have a car – it isn’t a deal-breaker! Most conveniences are only a short walk away.

At Villa Veneto, all units are brimming with vintage details such as built-in cabinetry, exposed brick walls, and hardwood floors. Most of our apartments have been recently renovated and you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the spacious floor plans and extra storage in the kitchen.

We love Koreatown for its great variety of businesses, amazing food, and fun entertainment. There are neighborhoods within neighborhoods in Koreatown so we found some of the coolest places in the vicinity of the Villa Veneto to tell you a little more about them.

If you want to read more about our other Koreatown buildings, you can do that here.

Moonbowls

Location: 1842 W. Washington Blvd

At moonbowls, they’re taking a new approach to Korean cuisine. They believe in food that’s clean, craveable, and leaves you feeling great. Moonbowl’s food is 100% gluten-free and made with high-quality, real ingredients. Their focus is on plant-based alternatives that taste better than the non-plant-based versions, and never use preservatives or additives. Only the good stuff!

Gogo’s Tacos

Location: 3660 Beverly Blvd.

Gogo’s is a familiar Los Angeles street taco prepared with integrity and quality at the forefront. Gogo’s understands that you have things to do and sometimes just want something delicious, comforting, and quick. The tacos they make are created to be eaten anywhere, at any time.

The mystery is taken out of the meat – all proteins are top-notch.  Sink your teeth into our Prime Angus Ribeye or Polito Family Farms Chicken.

Gogo’s is putting the FOOD back into fast food and taking the hassle out of dining out. After eating at Gogo’s, you will feel good, and ready to take on the world. Not weighed down like at some other taco chains…

Village Pizzeria

Location:  131 N Larchmont Blvd

When Village Pizzaria’s current owner moved to San Francisco from Brooklyn in 1979, the only thing he really missed was his favorite pizza. The local ‘neighborhood’ pizzerias of his childhood back in Brooklyn and Queens made San Francisco’s pizza seem pale by comparison.

He found Village Pizzeria almost immediately. They combined Brooklyn or ‘boroughs’ flavor with California fresh and produced a truly great pizza.

He felt good about this San Francisco experience. It was a ‘score’ (to say the least) to find Village Pizzeria on Steiner Street almost immediately.

Fifteen years later, in 1994, he changed careers and purchased a Village Pizzeria on Clement Street in San Francisco. In 1997, while on vacation in Southern California, his family decided to relocate to Hancock Park — and they were able to open Village Pizzeria on Larchmont Boulevard. In February 2008, they opened Village Pizzeria on Yucca Street in Hollywood.

California fresh means just that — no additives — fresh. The dough for the pizza crust is prepared daily using fresh yeast and allowed to ‘proof’ (rise). The resulting shell is a true baker’s crust.

To ensure the quality and freshness of the toppings, they make their own sausage, meatballs, marinara sauce, balsamic and Italian dressings, fresh crushed garlic and clam mixture, and pesto according to specific ‘special’ house recipes. Village Pizzeria only uses fresh-cut produce. No microwave ovens are used here!

They’ve been told this is among the very best pizza anywhere. The proof of the pizza is in the eating. You’ll have to see for yourself.

Burger Lounge

Location: 217 N. Larchmont Blvd.

Burger Lounge is just a neighborhood burger joint. Nothing more, nothing less. They set out to make hamburgers and wanted them to taste good. Novel idea, right? They figured if the recipes were simple and only the best ingredients were used, you’d get crisp textures, pure flavors, and a burger that’s refreshingly uncomplicated. Turns out, that’s the best way to create a bunch of different meals.

They take common recipes to new heights by crafting them with familiar ingredients sourced specifically for taste. The best part is, these ingredients are often better for you, and the environment too. Burgers with grass-fed beef and free-range turkey, salads featuring organic spinach and mizuna, a cod sandwich that’s sustainably sourced…the list goes on and on.

An uncomplicated, tastefully-sourced approach is what Burger Lounge is all about. If it doesn’t taste better, they’re not into it. It’s not always easy, but easy isn’t what they are here for. They’re here to do a common thing uncommonly well. They’re here to be better. And sometimes, it’s harder to be better.

Floret Floral

Location:  654 N Larchmont Blvd.

This is your one-stop shop for thoughtfully curated florals, garden, and home goods. Located in Whizin Market Square, this boutique floral shop specializes in producing stylish, unique, and seasonally-inspired florals to compliment any well-designed table, home, or event.

HMS Bounty

Location: 3365 Wilshire Blvd.

The thirteen-story Gaylord apartment building opened in 1924 directly across Wilshire from the Ambassador Hotel. Some claim it was named for Henry Gaylord Wilshire, the founder of Wilshire Boulevard. Units in the Gaylord were marketed as “own-your-own” apartments, with large kitchens and a central refrigeration system that allowed tenants to freeze their own ice cubes.

The Los Angeles Times called the Gaylord one of the largest and most pretentious apartment houses in the country. Since then, the building has been thoroughly renovated inside.

The nautical-themed HMS Bounty restaurant on the ground floor opened in 1962 in a space formerly occupied by The Gay Room and later The Secret Harbor. The Secret Harbor opened in 1951 as an outpost of Wilshire’s leading restaurant family of the 1940s and ’50s, brothers Seymour and Harold Dimsdale. After The Secret Harbor, the space served a brief stint as the Golden Anchor before becoming the HMS Bounty offering food and grog for the weary sailor.

Find their menu here.

Southland Beer

Location: 740 S Western Ave #112,

Southland Beer is a craft beer and natural wine bar and bottleshop in Koreatown, Los Angeles.

They offer sixteen rotating taps of craft beer and cider, plus wines by the glass. They also have a small bottleshop in the back room where you can grab bottles and cans to go or drink them on site.

Their selection of local craft beer, wine, cider, hard seltzer, and kombucha is specially curated to bring you the best.

They have a small bar snack menu but you may also bring in outside food or order from Iki Ramen next door.

They are located just steps from the Wiltern, making them a great option as a pre-game spot for a concert.

Taylor’s Steakhouse

Location: 3361 West 8th St

In 1953, Tex and Margie Taylor bought O’Kelley’s Tavern on the corner of Olympic Blvd. and Western Ave., just west of downtown Los Angeles. What began as Taylor’s Tavern, the “Biggest Little Bar in Los Angeles” soon grew to become Taylor’s Steak House, one of L.A.’s most popular eateries.

In 1970, to accommodate a growing clientele, they relocated a few blocks away to their present location at Eighth St. and Ardmore in the Mid-Wilshire district. The elegant old-world setting, with a full bar, private tables, and a group room for private functions, became and continues to be a destination for a diverse clientele, including many celebrities!

In 1978 Margie and “Tex” retired to Solana Beach and their son Bruce took the reins and continued the Taylor tradition.

For over forty-six years, Taylor’s has been dedicated to providing the finest aged, corn-fed prime, and certified Angus Beef available at affordable prices.
