Celebrate St.Patrick’s Day In Los Angeles

January 7, 2022

Grab a pint of Guinness and celebrate Saint Paddys Day in LA.

Saint Patrick’s Day is a celebration of Irish culture that is celebrated around the globe every March 17. It has been a traditional religious celebration in Ireland for more than 1,000 years as it falls during Christian lent. It was a celebration in which the prohibitions of lent were lifted and after church, people could celebrate with drinks and meat dishes such as Irish bacon and cabbage.

Saint Patrick was actually born in England in the 5th Century, but was kidnapped and brought to Ireland as a slave when he was only 16. Later in life he escaped but ultimately returned to Ireland bringing a message of Christianity with him. Legend has it, he explained the Holy Trinity (the father, the son, and the holy spirit) with a Shamrock.

Some of the world’s biggest Saint Patrick’s Day Celebrations take place outside of Dublin. New York City, Sydney, Buenos Aires, Montreal, and London also host record-holding celebrations. While it may have started as a more religious-based holiday, it’s a little more secular now and more of a celebration of culture as well as good food and drink. Corned beef anyone?

Los Angeles never makes any lists of big St.Paddy’s day celebrations but that doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty of fun to be found. It just takes a little more research.

But no worries, your favorite, friendly neighborhood rental company not only provides you with the best apartment rental in Los Angeles but also the 4-1-1 into where you can celebrate St. Patrick’s Day events in Los Angeles.

Whether you go for Irish Whiskey or a Guinness, this bar crawl is for you. This is the largest St. Patrick’s Day pub crawl in L.A. What: Hermosa Beach St. Patrick’s Day Parade

When: Friday, March 11th

Where: Downtown Hermosa Beach, Pier Ave.

Cost: Free

Okay, it’s not the emerald seaside but the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade at Hermosa Beach injects a little luck of the Irish into the California coast. They’ve got bagpipes, a marching band, and fully decked-out cars.

One of the best parts may be the dressed-up dogs from the Irish Setters Club of Southern California. You truly will not want to miss their part in the parade. It would be a travesty not to see a dog dressed as a leprechaun.  The parade starts right near City Hall on Valley Drive, heads to Pier Avenue, and concludes at the corner of Hermosa Ave and 10th St.

What: St. Patrick’s Day 5K

When: Sunday, March 13th, 8:00 am

Where: Village Runner Redondo Beach

Cost: $45

If you’re more of a morning 5K person (only a little bit of judgment…) you can celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with a Sunday morning run or walk. Everyone who participates gets a St. Patricks’ Day Run t-shirt.

The 5K also includes chip timing, age division awards, and cash prizes to the top three overall male and female runners of the race to the tune of $200, $125, and $75. There’s also a Little Leprechaun Dash for Gold for kids, and we’ve got to admit that sounds pretty cute.

You are welcome for the suggestions! Now go out and enjoy your Saint Patrick’s Day, even if that means you are running a 5K. I know, I know, we said no judgment. We’ll stick to the green beer.
