Top 10 Fave LA To Do’s
Whether you’re brand new to LA or have lived here for 5 years here’s a list of the top 10 things we believe every Angeleno should do.
1) The Griffith Observatory
Magical! The most beautiful building in all of Los Angeles.
The Griffith Observatory is located in the heart of Griffith Park and is a great place to take a picnic and watch the sunset over the Hollywood sign. (Plus visiting the grounds is free)
2) The Farmers Market and The Grove
It’s a two for one!
The Farmers Market and the
The Grove share the same plot of land. You can visit one of the oldest (and yummiest) shopping establishments in Los Angeles and then cross over to the fantastic, splendor of capitalism at The Grove.
3) Hollywood Bowl
If you haven’t yet enjoyed the outdoor concerts at
The Hollywood Bowl…what are you waiting for?!?! Pack a picnic, don’t forget a bottle of wine, and head on over to the bowl. As the sun sets the music starts and you will be absolutely transported. 4) Santa Monica Pier & Beach
If you’ve lived in Los Angeles for awhile you’ll know that going to the beach is a rare event for most of us. It takes FOREVER to get there! Having said that, the
Santa Monica Pier and beach are worth the drive. The Pier has an old fashioned arcade, rides, street performers and some killer ice cream cones. Bring your bathing suit with you and after you’ve had fun on the pier you can walk the beach and play in the waves.
5) Korean Karaoke
It’s Karaoke time! Korean Karaoke isn’t your run of the mill Karaoke adventure. In Korean Karaoke joints you get a private room where you and your friends can be rock stars for a low hourly rate. Several of the venues even have a don’t-ask-don’t-tell BYOB policy (check out

6) Runyon Canyon
The quintessential hollywood hiking experience. Roughly 3.5 miles round trip Runyon Canyon is an old fire road that gives you a great workout and on a clear day a view of the ocean, downtown LA, Griffith Observatory and, of course, the Hollywood sign. Plus you have the added bonus of possible star sightings and guaranteed dog fun as it doubles as an off-leash dog park. Beware, people watching is great here! Tons of wannabes get dressed up to hike their way into celebrity status.
7) Cinespia Hollywood Forever Cemetery Screening
What’s more LA then watching a movie in a cemetery? Seriously, not as creepy as it sounds. Gather a group of friends, pack a picnic and get ready to hang out in one of the most historic, fun cemeteries in all of Los Angeles. The
Cinespia gang choose a great line up of classics that range from cult to cultural. You will want your jacket no matter what time of year it is.
8) The Getty
The Getty Center offers more then just culture. On a clear day you will also be treated to 360 degrees of breathtaking views. During the summer there are live sunset concerts and movie screenings. This is a great place to take your out of town family and friends.
9) People Watching at Hollywood & Highland
This is definitely the most touristy thing you can do in Los Angeles. The intersection of Hollywood & Highland is an outdoor mall where the more colorful citizens of Los Angeles gather. You can get a picture with Spiderman, find your favorite stars on the Walk of Fame and visit Grauman’s Chinese Theatre. Our favorite thing to do aside from living in an
affordable apartments is just walk and gawk.
10) The Japanese Garden
After all the activities above you will be in need of some R&R.
The Japanese Garden‘s elegance will ease you into a state of relaxation. The garden is open Monday-Thursday from 11-4 for self-guided tours and it’s $5 per person. Ohmmmmmm.
